Beatriz Jardinha

Beatriz Jardinha is the name of the jeweler, the name of the jewels she created – but not the name of a brand. The brand, in the truest sense of the word, does not exist. There are no collections or a huge stock, there are no other collaborators or goals to fulfill. Beatriz moves for what brings her happiness-and right now her place is among the jewels she creates.

The history of this non-brand begins in India, where Beatriz immersed herself for six months in the universe of jewelery, having contact with gold and filigree techniques. It was her school. “I learned what I know sitting on the floor, in a relaxed environment and without technical languages. I didn’t have to know the rules to do a certain thing: on the contrary, I had to look at a piece and read myself on how to get there.” And it was like this, in a free and creative process, that Beatriz began to design and produce her jewelry, shared with the world through an Instagram page-which is still her personal page today. Word-of-mouth gained dimension and, in the summer of 2020, the website was born. Never the brand.

Since then, Beatriz has been attending a goldsmith’s workshop in downtown Lisbon, where she learns among masters, but it is in her studio, near Parque Eduardo VII, that she gets more hands-on. The production work is very manual, “it’s pure and hard”. She uses saws, files, hammers and fire in materials such as silver and gold, as well as using natural stones such as shell and mother of pearl.

The elements she wears reflect the many journeys she has taken and “the most mystical auras” of the people she has met along the way. And despite the inspiration of the jeweler being the symbolism of each piece, Beatriz’s idea is not to close the jewels in the meanings she attributes to them. Rather, it is to see in symbols the power of transmitting to each person a different message: the one that each one of them wants to receive at a given moment.
The most requested piece is the Mina necklace, but Beatriz’s favorites are the larger ones. “They have more information and allow me to give more of myself in creative terms and in the production itself.”
