If children could make their own clothes, what would they look like? The question launched Mafalda Faro on a fun journey that led to the creation of her own brand: Hey Soleil, founded in 2019.

Quality, comfort and sustainability are the three main pillars of the pieces that want to be simple and fun, designed so that children can run and play freely. “It’s a more relaxed brand than usual in Portugal, where there are many props and many frills”, sums up the children’s fashion designer.
Sizes range from one month to six years, but adults have not been forgotten either. Under the name Hey Lab, Mafalda invites artists and illustrators to design sweater packs for parents and children. Luis Mazón, Berry Aktuglu, Louise Lockhart and Espirro are among the guests to date.

To show that the issue of sustainability is taken to the letter, the fabrics used in the confection have the OEKO-TEX certificate – one of the best known worldwide for textiles tested for the presence of harmful substances – and in the new collections the leftovers of fabrics from past collections. In the future, the fashion designer even dreams of the end of the division by seasons. “The idea that one collection does not combine with another makes no sense for Hey Soleil, which seeks to create timeless, long-lasting pieces that harmoniously combine with each other”, she concludes.
