Yako & Co

With a professional career always linked to the industry and eager to create his own project, Bernardo Araújo found his way through aprons, imagining Yako&Co. “It was a transitional time in my life, when I felt I really wanted to spend more time surrounded by friends and family. And those moments for me were always spent cooking, with an apron on.” It is from this period that the name Yako appears, inspired by the cartoons he used to see with his children – and in 2019, a new “baby” named Yako&Co.
Bernardo is a skilled cook and, despite looking for the aprons he idealized, he only found heavy, very masculine options associated with barbecue. He then decided to create the object he dreamed of. “The idea was to have a line of comfortable and beautiful aprons, which were a piece of clothing to wear among friends and at the same time they were part of the house, that would hang well in the kitchen.”
Yako&Co aprons come in two versions: vegan and leather. Made in Portugal, the leather has a light and more supple finish. The vegan version has washable cotton straps that cross the back and lighten the apron, making it practical and even more comfortable. Either model is built to last, and both arrive wrapped in bread bags that appeal to reuse.
