It is often said that in the Azores it is all green, and in Senhora da Rosa this is true even on the walls. In the brand new hotel of São Miguel, the vegetation was also taken into doors and it is possible to “immerse yourself in the fauna and flora of the island in a comfortable and tasteful atmosphere”. There are about three hectares, on a farm of the eighteenth century that was once known for the production of oranges, later by the pineapples, and that after all is not so green in this to receive guests – before closing doors, nine years ago, came to function as an inn.
At the reopening, the white wood and glass greenhouses were kept, but now with the right to heated water tanks inside, where it is possible to bathe (there is also an outdoor swimming pool, in another area of the hotel). We are no longer talking about an inn, but a four-star superior with 35 rooms, including two Tranquility Garden Lodges – two wooden huts that recreate the Azorean cafuzes where cereals were stored in the past. With 33 square meters, they have the living area and a terrace with outdoor bath, surrounded by banana trees.
In addition to the hotel, there is also a restaurant called Magma and a spa called Musgo where, along with the names inspired by azorean nature, the idea is to use mostly local products and even made inside doors. In the same family for several generations, the property also has an exclusive line of amenities, produced by a local saboaria with ingredients of the farm – oranges, lemons, bananas or chestnuts, depending on the season – and that achieve the feat of not using plastic and being, this time metaphorically, green and environmentally friendly.
