Macheia Basketry Kit
Inside this tube is an original idea: to make, at home, a bottle protection from a traditional basketry technique of Santarém: the “bunho”. The kit marks the debut of Macheia, a new project created by designers Iany Gayo and Lucrezia Papillo to “rethink old artisan crafts, giving them contemporary uses”. The tube intends to condense part of what the duo learned from “one of the last artisans who works this technique in Portugal, Mr. Manuel Ferreira”. Inside follows the bunho – plant that grows spontaneously in Santarém and is used as the main “fiber” – a cotton rope also national, designed to customize the piece and available in four colors, and an instruction manual with the 12 steps illustrated. Contrary to what happens in traditional stuffing, this protection was designed to be removable and not interfere with the washes. The core idea is to give a new life to an old bottle that’s been left in your home.

Carlos Valente Milling Bread
Operating since 1810, Moagem Carlos Valente had never seen a “breandemic”, but knew how to respond to it. In addition to an online store, where the various flours of their own manufacture coexist with accessories to make bread at home, the historical brand of Ílhavo also launched, last Christmas, the “Tradições de Amassar” (it translates to Traditions of Kneading). There are three experience boxes that can join the family in the kitchen, with a careful design and several recipes in one basket. In addition to the Bolo Rei e Bolo Rainha, and the box dedicated to biscuits and cookies – where it is possible to prepare the typical “raivas” of Aveiro – there is a kit for making traditional dough bread at home, which allows you to cook a bunch of french toast. Each box brings a packet of wheat flour from their own brand (grounded the old-fashioned way), the necessary ingredients in glass jars, and a QR code to access the video’s recipe.

Illustrations with Textures and Cutouts by Teresa Rego
Teresa Rego found the artistic inspiration she needed in London, making illustrations of plants and colorful shapes to contrast with the gray city. Upon her return to Porto, she decided to share her favorite techniques, in workshops in her studio. One of them is this one,
“illustration with textures and cutouts”, an authentic portable studio that includes various types of paper and inks (including
brushes and textured materials, scissors, glue and even – for a handcrafted moment – a roll and a spatula. To be able to explore the technique step by step, each box also brings an illustrated manual and gives access to a video that is available online.
