Do you feel like dancing? One of Casas da Serra’s accommodation sits in an old sale, famous for dancing evenings to the sound of accordion. It is Casa do Troco – in memory of the old transactions – and now accomodates nine people, with the right to the pool.
The mountain range is that of Tavira and the cottages – four in all – are in a small village called Daroeira, eight kilometers from the beaches of Sotavento.
Lina de Lonet Delgado and her husband Helge Jörgens discovered this “hidden place away from the crowds” 21 years ago and for the past two decades have dedicated themselves to rebuilding their abandoned houses “in the traditional Algarve style” – first to flee the city, later to share this authentic But “deserted and forgotten” Algarve with other tourists.
Each house is independent, has been renovated with great taste and some antique furniture and can be booked in full. There are two smaller ones – Monte do Cansado and Casa do Pátio, both for a maximum of four people – and two larger: Serro da Volta, which houses up to a dozen guests and guarantees total privacy, in addition to having a generous swimming pool, and Casa do Troco, where – loud and resume the ball –, the idea is to return to promote conviviality, despite the snag of the pandemic.
